In a very pleasant surprise, ††† (Crosses) have released a brand new single titled “Vivien,” and announced an upcoming EP called “PERMANENT.RADIANT” that will be coming out on December 9th.
For those who don’t know, ††† (Crosses) is a dark electronic/synth pop project started by Chino Moreno, the frontman for a popular 90s shoegaze metal band, Deftones.
††† (Crosses) was formed in 2011 and released their debut self-titled album in 2014. They were quiet for the rest of the decade until the release of another single in 2020 and continuing with a steady stream of singles and EPs.
“Vivien” is by far one of their best songs to come out and demonstrates the band’s songwriting improving greatly from prior releases. The song features better blended guitar and much more interesting melodies. It also fuses their usual dream pop sound with touches of industrial and rock.
If the rest of the EP is as good as this new single, it is safe to say that we’re in for a treat when it drops in December.
