Ukraine’s army, with help from the US, took down the missile that was aimed at the Patriot air defense system in Ukraine. Ukrainian army officials claimed that this was their first recorded use of an “advanced air defense system only weeks after it arrived in the country.”
The Patriot is an air defense system that had launched multiple missiles at different angles to intercept the incoming projectile and it was successful. US officials had high interest that the Patriot let out signals that it let out to Russian radar and they sent a missile known as a “Kinzhal or Killjoy.” The Patriot uses a powerful radar to detect high speed and high altitude objects, making it good ground to air defense. Thisalso is good for long range this also gives the opposing force to locate the Patriot . Smaller the range, harder to detect. There are mobile air defense systems but the Patriot can not be taken to different places easily as it compensates for longer ranges of air defense.
Ukrainian officials proposed different tactics in camouflaging the signals of the Patriot to some extent but eventually the Russians were able to narrow down where the Patriot is located. As it was “stationed outside of Kyiv.” Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov informed that a confirmed target of Russia is the Patriot as it opposes their missiles reaching hypersonic speeds.
As this piece of machinery takes about one year to learn and operate the A.D.S the Ukrainians were able to cram and fully present to the US, Dutch, and German instructors they understand how to use this piece of equipment efficiently, allowing them to ship the two Patriots to Ukraine .
