Taylors Swift’s Eras Tour Is An Economic Powerhouse

There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in music right now. The Taylor Swift Eras Tour kicked off in Glendale, Arizona in the State Farm Stadium on March 17, 2023 with a total attendance of about 70,000 fans. The total number of attendees across her 53 concerts in 20 states was around an astonishing 3,985,245 attendees, and this is only the first leg of her 3 leg tour! During this tour she announced two new album remakes of Speak Now and 1989, also known as “Taylors Versions.”

Taylor announced the second leg of her tour will be held in Mexico, Europe, Asia, and South America with 50 concerts in 27 cities and her last leg in America will consist of 15 shows in 3 states and 1 state in canada. Every concert announced has all been held in some of the largest and most popular stadiums with each concert having the minimum of 50,000 spectators.

As the first leg of the tour has come to an end, with her last concert being held in the Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, the US concerts alone could make up to $689 million dollars meaning she’s making upwards to $12-$14 million each show. Due to this, The Eras Tour would be considered the highest grossing tour of all time possibly surpassing Elton John’ Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, Harry Styles Love On tour, Ed Sheeran’s Divide tour and Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres tour (still touring).

The massive amount of money that has been gained from this tour was estimated to have added about $5 billion dollars into the US economy! In LA alone, the economy was boosted by $350 million dollars, local earnings increased by $160 million and approximately 3,330 jobs were created. The impact was so big that world leaders across 4 continents have been inviting her to their countries, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Thailand’s prime minister Pita Limjaroenrat, Chilean President Gabriel Boric and australian politician Andrew Wallace, whos also a member of Parliament, have quite literally begged her to come to their countries and perform.

Each concert, Taylor can make up to $10 million in ticket sales or more with around $2-4 million in merch sales. After splitting that money with the cost of the stadium, her tour team, and promotions, Taylor racks up an approximately $5 million in profit. Some sources think that this tour could possibly reach up to more than $4 billion dollars in comparison to the original $2 billion but that $4 billion is still an estimate. With her combined total of 146 sold out shows, she no doubt has one of the biggest impacts on the economy through the popularity of her shows.

The Eras Tour has been one of the most talked about topics in 2023 so far. Taylor Swift has found her way into our lives starting from our childhood with iconic songs such as “Bad Blood”, “Welcome To New York”, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, “22”, and more! Her impact and her music is timeless and it doesn’t seem like her name will leave our minds and media for years to come.
