“Twitter” Undergoes a new Transformation

by Kai Peterson

On July 28th, Popular social media site “Twitter” was officially rebranded to “X”. The newly deemed CEO of “X” Linda Yaccarino, has stated that “X” will, “Transform the global town square”.

This change was initially sparked by former owner of “Twitter”, Elon Musk. Musk brought many changes upon the massive social media website which led into the rebrand. Regarding the change, Musk wrote, “…and soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand, and, gradually, all the birds.” The reasoning for the name “X” is not specifically known, however it can be tied to different brands Musk has represented: SpaceX, xAI.

The general reception among users regarding the change is mostly question and confusion as this change has been seen as detrimental to the brand due to the fact that the name has no real meaning, leaving many users concerned about the future of the platform.

Since the re-brand has taken place, different controversies have sparked up including a feud that was sparked between social media icons; Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. A new application has been developed known as “Threads” under Mark Zuckerberg which Musk has claimed to be a “Copy” of the formerly known “Twitter”. This has even incited a potential physical fight between the two, in which there have been talks of a potential cage fight. However, recently according to Zuckerberg they are no longer in talks due to Musk being “unserious” about the matter.
