Artificial intelligence (AI) has quickly become a revolutionary force that is changing networks, industries, and even how individuals perceive the world. So, let’s explore some of the benefits and dangers of AI.
For example, virtual assistants and self-driving cars are making their way into our everyday lives, and this technology can prove to be helpful. However, “our main challenge as a field” is to inspect the safety of AI technology before deploying it in places where human lives are at stake. AI is leaking into our day to day lives, dramatically changing how we communicate and collaborate with one another, for better or for worse, according to the Stanford Center for AI Safety.
AI systems have amazing capabilities, from controlling self-driving cars and self-piloting planes, to having the ability to mimic human intelligence and carry out operations that can require a human’s cognitive process. For example, we can ask Google Assistant to “Make a hair appointment at 10:00 am”, and the AI assistant will book the appointment while mimicking your voice. Here’s a video about the google assistant if you’re interested in exploring that topic more.
“Google tells staff members that it has already started exploring a “supercharged” Assistant powered by the newest large language models (LLM), similar to the technology behind ChatGPT and Google’s own Bard chatbot”, according to The verge. AI can be terrifying but also very helpful in many ways.
ChatGPT, an AI software, having the capability of creating malware is legit scary. Not because malware itself is anything new, but rather because ChatGPT can create malware endlessly. Unlike us humans, AI’s don’t require sleep—-or endless amounts of coffee to stay awake, if you’re that kind of person.
Infosecurity Magazine wrote that “cybersecurity researchers were able to create a polymorphic program that is highly elusive and difficult to detect.” According to mashable, Computers are given the power from data to change their responses so they learn just like us. Computers are able to do this because of machine learning, a part of AI. Artificial intelligence (AI) systems can spot patterns, predict outcomes, and build off of what it has learned as a result of this dynamic process. Computers can be fed huge amounts of information and be trained to identify the patterns in it, in order to make predictions, solve problems, and even learn from their own mistakes according to the BBC.
There are many uses for AI, spanning through the business industry to healthcare, and such fields are being drastically changed by AI. From engineering early disease detection and even creating treatment plans for what’s best for the person, the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare has been groundbreaking, reshaping the way we diagnose, treat and monitor patients. This technology is drastically improving healthcare research and outcomes by producing more accurate diagnoses and enabling more personalized treatments, according to foreseemed.
As artificial intelligence continues to change our lives, for better or worse, it’s reshaping the way we think, live, and travel. The potential of AI is unimaginable and it’s growing at a rate faster than ever. There are a lot of good and bad things, from giving your computer bad data to even saving lives.
