As we all know, the virus covid has severely affected everyone these last few years. We had to quarantine and do school via zoom, which for most people was not a pleasant experience. The last thing that anyone wants is to go back to that.
Covid-19 is a highly contagious virus that started in late 2019. It can cause flu-like symptoms and can be extremely severe. When the pandemic started, people panicked because this meant that we would have to wear masks everywhere and stay 6 feet away from people. The world was experiencing an apocalypse.
We were all relieved when the cases started to go down and we could finally go back to our normal routines again. But the virus did not actually disappear. It was still a very big problem in the world, it just wasn’t as broadcasted as it was before.
But now it might be making a comeback. Currently the CDC has reported that there is an average of 15,000 new cases a week. They are also seeing a 19% increase in cases per week and even a new variant BA.2.86 nicknamed “Pirola”, which health authorities and scientists are currently studying.
Although these numbers are nothing compared to the pandemic, we should all still be mindful as getting Covid-19 is not impossible and something that could happen.
Keep in mind that you can get COVID by being in close contact with someone who is infected. It can also spread by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus and then touching your face.
So please stay home and rest if you feel sick, even if it is not Covid. Make sure to frequently wash your hands to keep you and the people surrounding you safe!
