As people know, I’m a huge music person. I’m always on the lookout for different artists, songs, and genres. One of my other favorite things to do is recommend music to people. These artists in this article are my most favorite artists as of right now and I hope you like them too! Here are my top 4 favorite artists.
NIKI: NIKI (aka Nicole Zefanya) is a 24 year old artist under 88 Rising Records. Her main genres are Indie, R&B, and Pop. She started writing music at 13 years old and said that her mother was her biggest inspiration when it came to her early music. By the age of 15, she opened up for Taylor Swift during her Red Tour in Jakarta after winning a competition made by Taylor and the ice cream brand Wall’s, called Ride to Fame. She joined 88 Rising in 2017, releasing two singles “See U Later” and “I Like U”. In 2019, NIKI released “Lowkey”, which became one of the most popular Youtube videos on 88 Rising’s channel. NewJeans: NewJeans is a K-Pop group under the label ADOR which is owned by the company HYBE (which also owns BTS). Their Genres are mainly Pop, Bass And Drum, and of course, K-pop. The group consists of five members, Danielle, Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein. NewJeans released their first song, “Attention”, as a surprise release on July 22, 2022. The next day, they released their second single, “Hype Boy”, which charted for 35 weeks on Billboard’s global 200. Two days after, they released their third single, “Hurt”. On August 1st, 2022, NewJeans released their debut album, ironically named NewJeans. Their newest album, Get Up was released on July 21, 2023, which sold 1.65 million copies in its first week. Ethel Cain: Ethel Cain (aka Hayden Silas Anhedönia) is a 25 year old singer-songwriter and model. Her main genres are Alternative, Rock, and Indie. She began making music in 2017 while in Florida State University, experimenting with reverb-heavy choral inspired music on GarageBand. In 2017 to 2018, she started to release her songs to her friends and followers on different social media platforms. In September 2019, she released a small collection of songs titled Carpet Bed and 3 months later, she released her EP, “Carpet Bed”. On April 23, 2021, she released her EP, “Inbred”. On May 12, 2023, She released her debut album, Preachers Daughter. Her persona “Ethel Cain”, has deep meaning behind it. Ethel’s concept for her character and her music is heavily based on her experiences with religion and family but for certain reasons, we cannot talk much about it. Emotional Oranges: Emotional Oranges is a duo group who met in 2017 at a Bat Mitzvah. Their main genres are based heavily on R&B and Soul. The member “A” was an audio engineer for Drake and the member “V” was a vocal coach for Adele. Their first single “Motion” was released on May 4, 2018 on the streaming platform Soundcloud. A year later, on May 10, 2019, they released their debut album The Juice: Vol. I. Both of their inspirations for their music are The Weekend, The xx, Lauryn Hill, and Matty from The 1975.
