Deion Sanders and the Buffalos are Off to an Electric Start This Season

By Beau Cline

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are off to an electric start after going 2-0 in their first matches, even though they were the underdog in both matchups. For their first match they were up against former College Championship contenders, TCU where they had a mere 8% chance of winning. However this didn’t phase Sanders and the Buffaloes as they were in the game right from the start. Going back and forth all game it came down to the wire with 4 minutes left in the game. On 4th down Sanders put the trust in his son Shedeur as he threw a screen pass to Dylan Edwards, who then ran a 46 yard touchdown securing the lead 45-42.

This performance was stellar, and far from what people expected to see as last year the Buffaloes were dead last in their division, with a record of 1-11. However this isn’t the same team as last year, during the off season they picked up star coach Deion Sanders. You might be thinking how could changing one head coach make such a big difference? This isn’t any regular head coach, Deion Sanders is a highly respected coach who’s built up other organizations who were struggling, like his former team Jackson State University. Given his high regard in the college football community, as soon as recruits heard Deion Sanders was moving schools again, they all started flocking in. By the end of the transfer period the Buffaloes had 53 new players ready for the season.

In their next matchup they faced Nebraska where they also were predicted to lose this time with much closer odds. Nebraska had a 58% predicted win rate with the Buffaloes at 42%.However, these predictions couldn’t be more off. Buffalo started the game guns blazing securing the first points of the game in a field goal. They continued to raise up the lead as they scored a touchdown and another field goal by the end of the first. Nebraska started the 2 quarter off scoring the first touchdown, minimizing the lead. This didn’t last long as the buffaloes went on to score 3 more touchdowns winning them the game 36-14.

After 2 electric starts from this new Colorado team we are all very excited to see what they have to offer in the upcoming matches. Do they have what it takes to stay consistent or will they crumble under the pressure.
