Chrisitan McCaffrey breaks Jerry Rice’s consecutive touchdown record

By Jacob Bugarin

Last Sunday in a Week 4 matchup, Christian McCaffery and the 49ers stomped over the Arizona Cardinals winning 35-16. The win isn’t even the biggest story because Christian McCaffery broke the consecutive touchdown in 49ers franchise history. Christian McCaffery went for 20 carries and rushed for 106 yards on the ground. With adding 2 rushing touchdowns and getting 7 receptions on the passing game with a touchdown to be included. History is finally made from the new 49ers star running back.

On October 20, 2022, the 49ers traded second, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024 to the Panthers. Christian McCaffery was drafted to the Carolina Panthers in 2017 with the 8th overall pick in the draft. In his time in Carolina he was hurt a lot and many people doubted the man for his injuries. But ever since his time in San Francisco, he hasn’t looked back at all.

Back in 1987,wide receiver  Jerry Rice had a streak of 12 games where had one or more touchdowns a game. Reminder, this is a hall of famer or the greatest wide receiver to ever play this game and McCaffery broke that record. McCaffery has been able to get into the end zone every game since October 30, 2022.. The streak may continue for the dual threat running back and is in the race for MVP. We will see if McCaffery can display another touchdown this Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
