“All Up In Your Mind” by Beyoncé is the 13th track off her album, Renaissance, released on July 29, 2022. Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album by Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. It consists of 16 songs and lasts about 1 hour and 2 minutes. This record is the first album off her three part album project. “All Up In Your Mind” is the second shortest song on Renaissance with the song length of 2 minutes and 49 seconds with the shortest song being “ENERGY”, which lasts 1 minute and 56 seconds.
“All Up In Your Mind” follows the story of a woman whose love for a man is so intense, she would do anything to essentially be “all up in his mind”. Some lyrics include “I try to get all up in your mind, It stops at a crime that I wanna make you mine, I try to get all up in your mind, I’ll go and do the time if it means I’ll make you mine” which shows that she is willing to do anything, legal or not, to get him to notice her. Her love for him is so strong that she basically will comply with every wish he has which is made clear with the lyric “Be careful what you ask for ’cause I just might comply”. Beyoncé expresses that she will also be his loyal follower and that he knows that already by saying “He know I’ma f***ing follow, I knew that I could get it out him.”
The intensity of the lyrics perfectly match the production and melody of this song as the instrumental is dark with a brooding bass and its mainly synth and electronic heavy melody. Beyoncé’s singing is very strong, firm, punctual and can be very intense at some points using a vocal fry. Beyoncé abruptly switches to a sweet singing voice which adds a perfect contrast between the heavy beat and her singing, then back to her firm singing voice. The singing pairs perfectly with the meaning of the song and the instrumental because it matches how psychotic and crazy the girl is about the man she likes (not to call Beyoncé crazy obviously). This song is definitely my most favorite song off Beyoncé’s Renaissance album.
