5 Anticipated Book Releases this Fall

Fall is prime time for book releases as readers get in the fall mood by cozying up with a new fantasy book or a heartwarming rom-com. Here are some of the most highly anticipated new releases in fall of 2023…  

  1. Iron Flame

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros is the second book in The Empyrean series, after Fourth Wing, the fantasy novel that took “book-tok” by storm back in May of 2023. Fourth Wing follows Violet Sorrengail, a twenty-year-old girl who is supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, but has now been ordered to join hundreds of candidates competing to become the elite of Navarre dragon riders. The Empyrean series is a fantasy series featuring dragons and includes a subplot of romance that has fans hooked. Set to release November 7th, Iron Flame is anticipated by fans who couldn’t get enough of Fourth Wing, which sold out of book stores widely and was challenging to find copies of. No doubt, Iron Flame will receive as much if not more love than its predecessor.

  1. Betting on You

Betting on You by Lynn Painter, set to release November 28th, follows seventeen-year-old Bailey, who starts a new job at a waterpark where she sees Charlie, a guy she met a year prior and didn’t get along with. After betting on the success of two of their friends at a relationship, Charlie tries to deflect his feelings for Bailey, afraid to lose their friendship. Lynn Painter is known for cute Young Adult (YA) rom-coms and swoon worthy romance books like Better than the Movies, The Do-Over, and The Love Wager, all of which kept readers hooked and dying to know what happened to their favorite characters. Painter has never failed to deliver a hilarious and romantic story to fans and Betting on You will definitely be her next big hit. 

  1. Check and Mate

This dramatic, chess-themed romance will be best-selling author Ali Hazelwood’s very first YA romance. Previously known for writing Adult Romances featuring women in STEM such as The Love Hypothesis and Love Theoretically, Check and Mate is definitely going to show a different side of Hazelwood’s writing. Set to release November 7th, this book will follow rival chess players, Mallory and Nolan, as Mallory goes from being a rookie, to trying to beat chess master Nolan Sawyer.

  1. The Brother’s Hawthorne 

The Brother’s Hawthorne is the 4th book in the Inheritance Games Series written by author Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Barnes is known for her extensive and thrilling YA mystery series like The Naturals and The Inheritance Games. The Inheritance Games follows main character Avery Grambs as she suddenly inherits the entire fortune of billionaire Tobias Hawthore. Tobias’ four grandsons race to find out who Avery is and what her connection is to the deceased billionaire. This series is a fast paced mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seats as they wait eagerly to know how Avery is connected to the mysterious Hawthorne family. The Brothers Hawthorne, released August 29th, follows Hawthorne grandsons, Grayson and Jameson, as they embark on another mysterious adventure to solve their grandfather’s games.

  1. What the River Knows 

Set to release on October 31, What the River Knows by Isabel Ibanez will be the first book in the Secrets of the Nile duology. This book spotlights Inez Olivera, who belongs to the spectacular upper society of 19th century Buenos Aires. After receiving news of her parents death, Inez inherits a magnificent fortune and a partnership with an Egyptian archaeologist. The book follows these characters as they embark on a magical and dangerous adventure to find out the truth about what happened to her parents. This book is a historical fantasy that can be described as The Mummy meets Death on the Nile, in ancient Egypt. Fans of Ibanez’s previous books such as Woven in Moonlight and Written in Starlight, eagerly await the release of this book.
