Halloweekend is coming up, but not everyone is into the flashing lights, crowded house, big halloween party scene. If you are looking for something more relaxed, here are some nearby options for you.
- Larry’s Produce
Larry’s Produce in Fairfield is always a local favorite with a variety of pumpkins and memories to be made. It’s great for picking pumpkins to take home and have a carving contest with your friends. It’s always an amazing spot for pictures and has a cute fall aesthetic. Bring your Pumpkin Spice Latte and wear a cozy sweater to get in the Halloween spirit.
- First Street
Benicia will be having its annual trick or treating and costume contest on First Street (Saturday morning, October 28 at 10a.m). This is a nice and safe place to bring kids to dress up and get candy from local businesses. Make sure to also check out the Canine and Critter sidewalk stroll (12 p.m), where pets can show off their best halloween attire.
- Cool Patch Pumpkins
The Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon is a bit of a drive, but is definitely worth it. Whether you go with friends or family, there are plenty of things to do, so you can make a whole day of it. My favorite is the world record corn maze or the hay rides, but they also have a mini corn maze for the kiddos and a corn bath as well. They offer food and hot drinks, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own.
- The Winchester Mystery House
If you like haunted houses and horror, this could be for you. The Winchester Mystery House is having their annual Unhinged Housewarming, where you will experience haunts and hear real ghost stories. It is also a great way to learn about why it holds the world record for longest continuous house construction. Make sure to buy tickets in advance and wear your spookiest halloween looks.
- NightMARE Island
If you have ever been to Mare Island, you would know that it is full of large run down warehouses. If you have ever wondered how they are inside, make sure you visit this haunted house. Open Friday and Saturday,The Halloween Night Market has handmade items for sale along with snacks and drinks. From 5 to 6pm they have no scare actors, so bring your kids and look around. After that, make sure you go through the main attraction for the scare of your life.
