Jada Pinkett Smith, an actress and talk show presenter, revealed in an interview that she and late artist Tupac Shakur were “soulmates” who may have shared a few “past lives” together.
She continued, “But yeah, you know, definitely,” saying that Tupac and her were soulmates. “If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think ‘Pac and I have traveled a few together. You know, in various forms,” Jada said.
Pinkett Smith and star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air married in 1997 and have two children, Jaden Smith, 25, and Willow Smith, 22.
In a preview of an NBC News and “Today” show special tied to Pinkett Smith’s upcoming memoir Worthy, the Set It Off star revealed she and Smith have been separated since 2016 despite showing up as a united front publicly.
Pinkett Smith says why they never announced her and Wills separation: “I think just not being ready yet. Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership, right, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know? And we hadn’t figured that out.”
Jada faced controversy when she claimed she and Will had been separated for seven years, which raised questions about the motivations behind the infamous 2022 Oscar slap.
Will Smith smacked Chris Rock on the Oscar stage live on television after Rock joked about Jada’s shaved head. He then said “Keep my wife’s name out your f—ing mouth!”
Pinkett Smith, like the rest of the live crowd and those watching at home at the time, admits she was shocked but for a different reason.
“First of all, I’m really shocked, because mind you, I’m not there. We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time,” she tells people
People have questioned why you would defend Jada and jeopardize your career for a lady you have been separated with for years.
“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” Jada said.
“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” she said.
