Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green has been suspended indefinitely following an incident that took place on Tuesday during the Warriors and Phoenix Suns game. During which Green slapped Sun player Jusuf Nurkic, Green soon received a Flagrant 2 foul and was therefore ejected from the game.
While trying to breakaway from Nurkic during the game, Green spins around with an open hand slapping Nurkic in the face. The force of the slap then caused Nurkic to fall to the ground, staying down for a while, but eventually getting up and finishing the game.
With this being the third time this season alone and nineteenth the time overall that Green has been ejected from a game, officials are now beginning to enforce harsher penalties to his unprofessional and unsportsmanlike outbursts. Just a month earlier Green was suspended for five games after putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold midgame.
While Green stated in his post game conference that his actions were unintentional, due to Draymond’s history of aggressive, impulsive, and unsportsmanlike behavior, the league’s officials have made the length of his suspension unknown and up for consideration. According to a tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski, an ESPN sports journalist, reports that Green, Warriors GM, and Green’s personal agent are scheduled to meet this week in order to discuss his further treatment and or counsiling. This course of treatment will determine when Draymond’s suspension will be over as well as when he will be able to rejoin his team and the league.
