Everybody and their grandma has a cell phone. Whether it be a flip phone, Iphone, or android, they have some sort of mobile device used for communication. This alone isn’t a problem. The problem is 90% of the day people are locked in on their phone screen. This can cause a lot of problems. For example, many people have died due to being hit by a car on the road because they were not paying attention to their surroundings and were too worried about what they were going to text next.
There are other problems that this arises in people. Due to how much screen time people are using, they are not paying attention to the outside world. They are just stuck inside the swiping curse. They swipe post after post until they either get told to stop, or they just get bored. Yet, no one ever gets bored of swiping, including myself.
The main problem is the lack of awareness when walking around. Many deaths are being blamed on phone use because they cross the road without looking up. This includes driving too. There are way too many people dying because they are texting and driving. People would rather send one last text than worry about theirs and other peoples safety while driving. This is such a problem that it is even illegal to use a non hands free device while driving, yet, people still do.
The last problem this forms is the lack of public interaction. Nobody goes outside and meets people in person anymore, its all online. That includes the dating world too. There are all these apps made for dating that people just love. But it is still very dangerous because you don’t know a single person you meet online until you meet in person. You could be matching with an actual psychopath and you would have no idea until its too late. People even know this, yet they prioritize easy, accessible, dangerous choices more than their safety. Which is a very big problem.
All of these reasons are big problems and are why phones are taking control of our lives. They cause many deaths in more ways than one. We need to figure out a way to make these phones safe but still the same. Otherwise, the future will hold many bad events. If we all work together we can make a difference for the greater good of our future. Just lock in.
