Jake Moody Forgot How to Kick?

By Jacob Bugarin

Last Sunday was the last regular season game for the San Francisco 49ers. They played against the Los Angeles Rams and lost 21-20 which snapped their winning streak against the Rams in the regular season. Of course, both teams sat most of their starters like Brock Purdy and Christian Mccaffrey. But, some skill positions on offense and defense still played for the first and second quarter, but eventually got pulled out so the backups got their reps. The most notable starter is kicker Jake Moody who missed a 38-yard field goal attempt. He has had struggles this season kicking the ball, but will this be affecting the 49ers when it comes to the playoffs?

Jake Moody was the 49ers third round pick this year and he has had his struggles during the preseason and regular season. His worst performance this year was against the Cleveland Browns where he missed the game-winning field goal. The next game he made 50% of his field goals against the Vikings in two attempts. After those two horrible games, he made most of his field goals and didn’t miss any until he played the Rams. The concern is will he be a liability in the playoffs? I do believe he will have the 49ers fans holding their breath when he kicks the ball.

Special teams are essential to score points and if Moody keeps missing like this, it could cause the 49ers to potentially be down in a playoff game where the stakes are higher. Niners have a bye week, so Jake Moody better be practicing a lot because he will be a huge part of the 49ers playoff run.
