Lee Carter, a 52 year old rapper located in Houston, Texas, was recently charged with aggravated kidnapping after holding a 30 year old homeless woman captive for 4 years.
The woman held by Carter was locked in his garage for possibly over 4 years, with only a makeshift toilet and a soiled mattress in the room. Police reports say she was able to get access to Carter’s computer to call rescuers.
On April 7, Houston’s fire department pried open the garage door to find her locked up and pregnant. Privacy laws, however, have caused Harris County to hide whether or not the baby was born. When she was found she weighed in at 70 pounds being 5 ‘2 and had only an empty bag of chips and a twinkie wrapper on her person. Windows were also boarded up after being broken while escaping.
She ended up getting out and going to the hospital and stayed there until Carter showed up and took her back to the garage.
He gave her drugs to keep her from leaving which caused her to hardly ever be able to consume a full meal. He told the woman how much crack he was able to give her, after she defecated on herself after “too much” was given.
Carters’ neighbors told police that they believed he may be involved in human trafficking, or prostitution. Some neighbors also accused him of having other houses in the area where he kept women.
The woman told authorities that “four or five years ago” she was asking for money when Crater picked her up claiming “he would help her”. Defense attorney George Powell said that the woman is actually Carter’s domestic partner, “they have been together for years and have a child together”. He said this without having seen the disturbing state of the garage.
Authorities released Carter from bail after a $100,000 bond was posted.
