New Bathroom Rules at BHS

By Comet Ziemer

BHS Admin has released a new set of rules for students recently. The rules cover a new bathroom policy that is taking place starting January 22nd, there will be a new ‘First 10/ Last 10 rule’ in place. This rule is meant to make students not be able to use the bathroom or get water within the first and last 10 minutes of class.

This rule comes as there has been an increase in students leaving right at the start or right before class ends to use the bathroom or get water, making it harder for teachers to take attendance and give daily instructions.

Principal Kleinshmidt released an email announcing the change to students on January 17th.

“Students are expected to use the restroom and get water during passing period (8 minutes), snack (15 minutes), and lunch (45+ minutes).

Campus supervisors and administrators will be checking bathrooms more frequently during passing period, snack and lunch to make sure that all restrooms are being used for the intended purpose and that no students are congregating or hanging out in the bathrooms.

Our hope is that this will reduce interruptions to teachers while they are trying to give instructions at the start of class, and ultimately help students be more successful.”

The email also states  if there are ever any special requests for using the bathroom because of medical or personal needs,  contact your teachers and the front office to negotiate what you need.
