March 5th- Presidential Primary Election

Elections are how we decide who will represent us. In the General Presidential Election, we choose which candidate would be best suited to be our president. The election on March 5th, 2024 is a Primary Presidential Election, where we choose who we want representing our various political parties in the presidential election. 

Who are the candidates?

Democratic Party- 

Joseph R. Biden Jr., President R. Boddie, Eban Cambridge, Gabriel Cornejo, Stephen P. Lyons, Armando “Mando” Perez-Serrato, Dean Phillips, Marianne Willianson

Republican Party-

Ryan L. Binkley, Ron De Santis, Nikki Haley, Asa Huchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Stuckenberg, Rachel Swift, Donald J. Trump

American Independent Party- 

James Bradley

Green Party-

Jill Stein

Libertarian Party-

Charles Ballay

Peace and Freedom Party-

Why should I vote?

If you are 18 and are eligible to vote, you should. Many people don’t vote because they think that their vote doesn’t matter. However, our country is built on a democracy and in order for that system to work, people must vote for what they want. 

Important Dates (California Secretary of State)

  • The last day to register to vote for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is February 20, 2024.
  • All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.
  • Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by February 5, 2024.
  • Ballot drop-off locations open on February 6, 2024.
  • Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or your county elections office.
  • Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties beginning on February 24, 2024.
  • Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by March 12, 2024.
