During this year’s Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift made a surprise announcement that she’ll be releasing her brand new eleventh studio album. She made this announcement in her acceptance speech of the Grammy she won for her Midnights album, awarding the singer her thirteenth Grammy.
Also during the speech Taylor Swift thanked her enthusiastic support that won her the award and that she was repaying them by revealing the secret album, apparently that has been in the works for the last 2 years.
Immediately afterwards the album cover and song titles were also dropped, along with collabs, the title The Tortured Poets Department and the tagline.
Many fans were anticipating something to happen at this event due to Swift changing her profile picture and all instagram pictures to black and white, which led to the belief that the secret was a rerelease of her previous Reputation album. Taylor Swift loves dropping clues like this, also bringing her website down and sending out an error message with the letters ‘hneriergrd’ which was deciphered to mean ‘red herring’.
Beyond these clues, the outfit that the celebrity chose to wear was entirely black and white, including six chains which made people believe it was that sixth album, Reputation, that she was going to release.
This album will include 16 songs plus a bonus track called The Manuscript. There are also 2 other featured artists, including Post Malone on the track Fortnight and Florence + The Machine on Florida!.
The release date has been set for April 19th of this year, despite being released in the middle of her Eras Tour that is still going on, and it is unclear how these new songs will affect the setlist of the tour.
