A day after the CH-53E helicopter that carried five marines from Clark County, Nevada to Miramar, California was found crashed, the marines have been identified. They are as follows, according to ABC News:

Captain Benjamin Moulton, 27

Captain Jack Casey, 26

Captain Miguel Nava, 28

Lance Corporal Donovan Davis, 21

Sergeant Alec Langen, 23

According to KGTV, Langen was married just weeks ago. His father, also a marine, had flown the same aircraft Langen crashed in, telling ABC News “I would give anything to be able to trade places and just have him come home.”

After the helicopter was reported missing at Miramar on Tuesday morning at 1 a.m., a search effort was launched. The helicopter was later found on Wednesday morning. On Thursday, the marines were confirmed to be dead and families were notified. Twenty-four hours after family notifications, the marines were identified to the public.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas J. Harvey, the number one priority after this “tragic mishap” is to “[support] the families of our fallen heroes…The Flying Tigers family stands strong and includes the friends and community who have supported our squadron during this challenging time. We will get through this together” (NBC).
