The most recent season of Netflix’s hit reality tv show, Love Is Blind, has reached its finale on March 13th with its reunion episode. This season of LIB took this calm and easy going reality show about finding your future spouse to the next level. From its multiple love triangles, constant conflict, and just the right amount of genuine connections between contestants, season six of LIB transcended from a reality show your mom watches to a season that will be remembered forever.
For those who haven’t tuned in for this reality masterpiece, Love is Blind begins with 30 men and women going on “dates” without seeing the other person. The whole concept revolves around the idea “is love really blind?” Not everyone finds a person that they can love but the few couples that do get engaged. Once engaged it is then that they are able to see each other for the first time. Once out of the pod the couples begin to live together, plan their wedding, meet family and live the life of an engaged couple. During this short period the couples are tested on whether their relationship can withstand the trials and tribulations of everyday life and ultimately whether or not they want to get married.
This season revolves around a select few who made connections while in the pods or impacted others’ decisions about who they chose to leave with. Beginning with Jimmy and Chelsae, these two had a rocky relationship from the start. With both individuals being involved with other people in the pods, before their engagement with each other, a messy scene or two was bound to happen. After watching the entire season I’ve come to the conclusion that these two chose the wrong people. While they didn’t go through with getting married their engagement was a rocky ride. With Jimmy being infatuated with Jess, his other love interest in the pods, along with Chelsae being overly critical and insecure this duo was doomed from the start. Unfortunately Jimmy and Chelsae didn’t make it to the altar, ultimately for the best considering the extreme incompatibility.
Moving on to Jermey and Laura, this couple started off strongly disregarding Jeremy’s obsession with Hawiian shirts. Soon out of the pods Laura and Jermey crashed and burned due to Jeremy’s disloyalty. While in the pods Jeremy pursued another love interest, Sarah Ann. Once out of the pods Jermey and Sarah Ann reconnected behind Laura’s back which caused the couple to split. Ultimately these two did not make it to the altar, and caused quite a scene in multiple episodes.
Next up we have AD and Clay. This couple had their ups and downs and while they appeared to genuinely care for each other, it was hard to envision them actually going through with the marriage. While AD was mature and ready for a commitment like mariage it was obvious that Clay was not there yet. With this said I was still shocked when Clay turned AD down at the altar and so was pretty much everyone else watching.
The strongest couple and the only couple that ended up getting married this season were Amy and Johnny. These two hit it off from the jump and were the first couple to get engaged to the only couple to get married, it’s hard not to believe they are meant to be. Going the entire season without a single fight of negative things to say about one another really shows Amy and Johnnys connection with one another.
Finally we address Kenneth and Brittany. In the beginning this couple was strong, communicated well, and appeared to be very compatible. Although once out of the pods these two crashed and burned due to their lack of connection. While they still seem to be on good terms this was the first couple to go once out of the pods.
Overall this season of Love is Blind was unlike any other. The drama caused by the multiple love triangles and the couples themselves created the perfect formula for an entertaining watch.
