How Exercise Can Prevent Cancer

By Staff

Cancer. A deadly disease that everyone fears.

In America, it is the second-leading cause of death. The American Cancer Society Guidelines on Nutrition and Physical Activity for Cancer Prevention show the discovery that exercise can actually prevent the risk of several types of cancer. Here they refer to breast, prostate, colon, endometrium, and possibly pancreatic cancer.

We all know that working out is good for your health, but the fact that it can actually have major influences was just recently brought up. But in what way does that actually work?

On the one hand, physical activity can regulate some hormones that are one cause of cancer and help maintain a healthy weight.

In fact, around 14% to 20% of cancer deaths are determined by obesity in America.

On the other hand, sitting can be a leading cause of it, as well as diabetes and heart disease.

Naturally, this usually only follows if other factors are also fulfilled, such as poor and unhealthy nutrition, etc.

Another factor is that it also prevents high levels of insulin and improves inflammation, which is a kind of protective system for your body.

But how much exercise is actually enough to be truly effective?

It is recommended that adults should have at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week, but even smaller amounts of physical activity contribute to staying healthy. For children, it should be around an hour.

If you don’t like exercise, going for a walk is a good way to get started.

Besides the fact that it can prevent cancer, it is also possible to reduce cancer pain with the help of physical activity. Researchers actually say that people who exercise regularly record lower levels of  cancer pain. Not only cancer pain, but pain in general, can be lowered.

However, this method shouldn’t be the only way  to fight cancer.

An interesting study has shown that people who have or have had cancer and who integrate more exercise into their daily lives actually feel less affected by the same diseases as people without a history of cancer who do not exercise. The study analyzed 10,610 patients with a history of cancer and 51,431 without. For these investigations, they had to exercise for 150-300 minutes per week.

Not only did they achieve better results in this regard, but they also felt happiness as a result (endorphins).

Even though you may think that this topic does not affect you, it can always be good to know about it and to pass this information on to others.

After all, it is a very beneficial way of exercising for your health and a happy life! And the earlier you start, the more beneficial it is.
