El Clásico Real Madrid vs Barcelona

By Yaseen Jangikhan

Another insane El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid came out the winner of this one. We now see Real Madrid walking towards the La Liga title, which would make it their 36th title. Real Madrid is now 11 points clear of Barcelona on the La Liga standings, so surely no one is touching them.

Barcelona took an early lead after a corner from Raphina, which made Lunin make a big mistake, and he would move in the wrong direction. It was Christenson, who went up and scored the header in the first 6 minutes of the game. After Lucas Vasquez attempted to cut inside the box he was tripped and the Ref gave a penalty. Vini Jr. took the shot and got it in the 18th minute, it was now leveled. In the 29th minute from a corner, Lamine Yamal hit it into the goal, but Lunin came last minute and got it out. However, it was found past the line in the video footage, but since La Liga didn’t have VAR technology it was called a no-goal, this created a lot of speculation.

After a slow start to the second half, Fermin Lopez scored a rebound from the goalkeeper in the 69th minute. Barcelona was now up 2-1. However, a cross in the 72-minute from Vini Jr. to Lucas Vasquez ended up with the result of a shot into the goal, it was a tie game now. The game had now gone past the 90-minute mark, both sides were playing tremendously well, but it would all end. Jude Bellingham came back alive scoring the game-winner in the 91st minute mark, securing a win for Real Madrid.

Much controversy has come up about the goal from Lamin Yamal which was disallowed even though it was past the line. They didn’t have VAR technology so they did not want to make a decision. Barcelona President John Laporta is trying to bring this up to the La Liga board and get a possible rematch, we’ll how it goes though no decision has been made yet.
