Graduation is right around the corner for the class of 2024. It is something that every senior has on their mind. Graduating from high school is thrilling, a little bit daunting, but mostly full of pure excitement. It’s the product of years of hard work, late-night study sessions, and countless memories. As the class of 2024 walks across that stage, there’s this buzz in the air, a mix of pride and nostalgia as we close a significant chapter of our lives. All of the exams, essays, and projects are finally a thing of the past. But it’s not just about saying goodbye. Graduation is an opening to new beginnings, challenges, and opportunities.
Graduation is all about the seniors, but this article will dive into graduation from the teachers point of view and what the class of 2024 looks like through their eyes.
This is what our beloved teachers had to say about the class of 2024:
Ms.Chu (Ceramics/Sculpture)
“The students are refreshingly social and outgoing. I see less of them isolating on their phones and completely sucked into social media. It’s awesome that these students are having real conversations with each other, myself and other staff.”
“Well for one, this is a rather large class of students and I’ve also noticed a few sets of “twins” in the class of 2024.”
“I will miss the everyday connections that I make with these young people through the outlet of creativity. Whether it be making art from scratch or with found objects, with mixed media or clay, I see so much amazing work flowing out of my students. I feel that it unites us together as human beings.”
“I wish them the best out in a world with challenges, but a world with hope and dreams too.”
Mr. Higgs (Gov/AP Gov)
“It is a great collection of students, but more importantly, they are a great collection of people. As much as I have enjoyed teaching them, I have also enjoyed our daily conversations and interactions. It has been a great year.”
“They are a very talented group in multiple areas: academics, athletics, music, dance, drama, speech & debate, journalism, etc. They have created a positive campus atmosphere. They have set the standard for other classes to follow. Especially the willingness to collaborate, to be inclusive, and to problem solve.”
“It is my hope that they all understand the importance of becoming and being a lifelong voter. I wish them much success and happiness.”
Mr.Baker (AP Lit/ERWC12)
“I very much enjoyed the class of 2024”
“It’s like there has been a build up of the classes getting more and more engaged and lively since coming back from the pandemic”
“This class has a great sense of humor and it’s just a lot of fun to interact with you”
“The senior class is a very good team with each other”
“The whole class is positive and takes things in stride and overall has a good attitude”
“I will miss my students of course and the interactions that I have with them”
“The senior class this year is irreplaceable and will never be replicated”
Mr.Stephens (P.E./Weight Training)
“I like my seniors, pretty much all of them… that’s kinda rare.”
“This is the last class that did online learning at the highschool. We’ve spent 4 years getting to know each other, kind of a special little get together you know when you guys are freshmen and the whole zoom thing especially in P.E. because everyone had to have their camera on. So kinda fun to do that and then come back and see peoples faces once we get back in person. Whether you like it or not it was a special group for all of us as they’re gone because we can’t say “Oh we had you in zoom class.” So that goes away.”
“Goodluck, goodluck and hopefully you guys can take care of the future before the class of 2026 does, I would very much appreciate that if you could do that that would be outstanding.”
Mr.Koeppen (Math/Athletic Director)
“Searching, what stands out the most is that the seniors this year were the freshman class during the pandemic”
“There is this hidden thing within the senior class that’s not like the other classes, it makes a unique class that brings the class together”
“There are a lot of the senior class that actually try to get to know me and the rest of the teachers, I think that is what I will miss the most.”
Mrs.Burmark
“You guys have been through a lot with covid so I think that your class has actually recovered amazingly”
“The class has the ability to get work done but also have fun”
“Even though every class has challenges but the senior class recovers very well from everything”
“The senior class has actually been very good at completing work and even when something just isn’t working out one day you guys will still try and succeed the next day and it is very admirable”
“Please continue working hard and never giving up even if you have to pause and take a break, come back to it.”
It has been a great year for everyone, for both teachers and students. Thank you to all of the teachers included in this article. And to all of the seniors’ good job, we did it!
