A Man Drowns from Attempting to Swim Across Alameda Creek/Fremont Creek

On April 30, 2024, according to SFgate and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Facebook account, A person called 911 around 5 p.m. to report that they saw an adult male struggling to swim across Alameda Creek in the Niles District of Fremont, near Third and I streets. A water rescue was performed with many units, policies, and fire departments. Around 10:30 p.m. a body was found and identified as 26-year-old Franklin Mabuyo of Hayward. The Sheriff’s office also stated “The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau took possession of the body and subsequently notified his next of kin. There were no signs of trauma or foul play. 

We want to thank all the agencies and our personnel involved in this challenging and heartbreaking recovery mission.”
