On Monday, September 9th, 2024, the famously talented film, TV, and theater actor, James Earl Jones, passed away at age 93. Jones had a massive catalog of famous roles over the years, most notably as the voice of the Sith Lord Darth Vader from the Star Wars franchise.
Jones first started his career in the entertainment industry with a debut on Broadway in 1958’s, Sunrise at Campobello. Ever since his debut, Jones has been in many Theater productions, such as The Great White Hope, Othello, Hamlet and even Shakespeare in the Park. In 2022, the theater where he made his big debut was renamed The James Earl Jones Theater.
In 1950, Jones was drafted at a pretty young age to serve in the Korean War. He served for three years and even became a lieutenant.
After coming home from the war, Jones moved into film roles. He made his film debut in 1964’s Dr. Strangelove. This got him more roles and recognition. In 2024, Jones has been in countless films and TV shows, such as 1993’s The Sandlot, 1994’s The Lion King, 1988’s Coming to America, and, of course, the Star Wars Franchise. He has won many awards for his outstanding roles and passionate commitment to the industry and owns many Tony and Grammy awards.
To this day, James Earl Jones is praised for everything he has accomplished and gone through to get these accomplishments while always keeping a smile on his face through everything.
