As the original Big 3—One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach—are considered some of the best shonen anime to come out, who are the new generations Big 3? As we know the DragonBall series was sort of the Big 3’s father, or father of Shonen. So who is leading the New Big 3? Who is the new Big 3? I believe these three anime’s are going to be the new Big 3 of this generation. Of course, no one is going to compare to the OG Big 3 because they had amazing sales and were the most popular ones in the 2000s. Now a lot of anime don’t have the same impact, but these three are one the most popular ones that came out:
Jujutsu Kaisen- By Gege Akutami
Jujutsu Kaisen is about a high school boy Itaodri Yuji who eats a finger of the most powerful curses who ever lived. He then goes into Jujutsu High School, where he learns to control cursed energy to be able to fight more curses. This anime has been standing out due to the animation and storyline they have in it—especially since their newest season, Shibuya Incident, because it has been one of the top seasons to come out this year. Taking over social media, Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most impactful anime that came out in the new generation.
Demon Slayer- By Koyoharu Gotouge
Demon Slayer is about a teenage boy named Tanjiro Kamado whose family was killed by a demon known as Muzan. His sister thought he survived it, and became a demon who still has human tendencies. When it first came out, it was the top anime of the year and is still very popular due to its great animation. I like the story, and it’s approaching its last season where the Infinity Castle Arc might be one of the greatest arcs to come out. I believe this anime can be part of the new Big 3 due to the impact it has already and the fact it has won multiple awards. This new arc received the Swordsmith Village Arc—one three awards. That was just that arc, and they had a lot more in every season.
My Hero Academia- By Kohei Horikoshi
Izuku Midoriya is named Deku for being known as useless because he had no power (a quirk—they call it). Then, he meets his favorite superhero, All Might, who gives Izuku the power of “One For All” and then gets into U.A. academy to learn how to be a superhero. I did stop watching this for a bit, but if you just ignore the fandom, the anime is so good. This anime has won a lot of awards and has been one of the top selling manga at the time. This is one of the new generation anime shows that has been put on the map.
