The 49ers’ Sad Loss

By Robert Nowinski

The 49ers faced the LA Rams on Sunday, September 22. The game was going really well for them, with a stable lead in the first 3 quarters.

  • 14-0 1st quarter, 2 touchdowns by SF
  • 14-7 2nd quarter, touchdown by Rams
  • 21-14 2nd quarter, touchdown by both teams

The 4th and final quarter is when it happened. The 49ers scored a field goal to get to 24-14. The Rams scored a field goal and a touchdown, taking it to 24-24. Then, at the last minute, the Rams SCORED A FIELD GOAL, the score ended up as 24-27, and the 49ers lost. It was crushing for many fans of the 49ers to see this happen. The main catalyst was at the 1:08 mark when Brock Purdy fired a 31-yard missile to his second-year wide receiver, who dropped what would have been a huge completion into Rams territory and potentially could have set up a game-winning field-goal attempt. According to Purdy, he is “trying to take responsibility for ‘giving him a better ball.’”

The game was crushing for fans. However, things are looking up with the recent win of 13-30 against the New England Patriots.
