What age were you when you first had access to the internet?
According to Motley Rice, 59% of Instagram users are reported to be under the age of 18. 40% of these children are under 13 years old. Why is this scary? Because of people like Smartschoolboy9.
The first red flag was the multiple Instagram accounts pretending to be children. Accounts named, “ok_jo14,” “the_converted_girl,” and “middle_name_veronica” all posted content like this.
The user would repeatedly post young children, usually boys, at school. Although these posts started off reasonably normal, they became more concerning over time. The images were edited heavily, morphing the boys’ faces into creepy, doll-like figures. People began to report the accounts, so he made more, such as “Stephanie Schoolie,” “truth_sticks_11,” and “smartschoolboy9.”
The posts only got weirder. They began to create a theme on every account. The children wore knee-high socks, a school uniform with a tie and a skirt, and black bootie boots. The posts also contained disturbing descriptions, such as “My hair is growing back to how I prefer it for school” or “What’s within wins you more, not just looks and likes,” and “Great footprints leave great energy and examples.”
The posts continued to change over time. Eventually, whoever the man behind the accounts was began to post himself dressed up as a schoolboy. He’d wear white face makeup and over exaggerate his mouth and eyes. He’d record videos walking around elementary schools at night, videos of him singing and talking like a little boy.
No formal report has been made about the suspicious activity. Smartschoolboy9 still has full access to programs where children are unprotected.
