As Halloween approaches and Spirit stores start opening, it’s time to begin planning costumes. 2024 has been booming with pop culture, trendy music, and movie releases, which will definitely be reflected in this year’s costumes. If you’re still deciding, here are five Halloween costumes you will most likely be seeing this October.
- Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice is a classic Tim Burton film from 1988, starring actors like Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, and Michael Keaton. The creepy and kooky film has stayed popular since its release. As of September 6th of this year, a sequel has been released, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. With the excitement of the new movie and the nostalgia of the old one, there’s no doubt that Beetlejuice and Lydia costumes will be seen everywhere.
- Sabrina Carpenter
Many people claim 2024 to be the year of pop. There is a surge of pop artists gaining fame: artists like Tate Mcrae, Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift, and of course Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter has turned many people’s heads with her hits like Espresso, Please Please Please, and Taste, all on her new album Short and Sweet. But, her raunchy lyrics aren’t the only thing she’s known for. Her classic tiny and sparkly outfits are exactly what is pictured when you hear the name. Sabrina has been known for wearing her iconic short dresses, big boots, lots of rhinestones, and, of course, heart shaped cutouts. Sabrina would make a perfect costume for pop lovers. People have already begun making their own versions of Carpenter’s iconic outfits and posting them to social media, so I would expect to see lots of them on Halloween.
- Leopard
Cheetah prints, leopard prints, and tiger stripes are all timeless prints that have been seen in iconic looks for years. After their viral moment on social media, leopard and cheetah prints are definitely in right now. Apps like Tiktok and Instagram are filled with people rocking leopard print skirts, dresses, nails, pants, and even phone cases. It is the new “classy” and “glamorous.” A leopard Halloween costume is the perfect way for people to hop on the trend and rock the spots.
- Deadpool and Wolverine
Marvel costumes have made appearances nearly every year since the films first came out. Anyone from little kids to grown adults dress as their favorite superhero or supervillain. Whether it be Spiderman, Captain America, or Loki, it’s a fan favorite. This year, the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie came out. Fans are raving about the hilarious film. It would make a great costume for you and your partner in crime. Or, you can pick one and make it a solo!
- Chappel Roan
Speaking of pop stars, Sabrina Carpenter isn’t the only icon catching people’s attention this year. Chappell Roan has risen to fame over the last few months with her hit album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. She has made her mark with her signature fiery red curls and eccentric outfits. She has many looks that can be recreated, like her classic Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess album cover, her Good Luck Babe! album cover that rocks the prosthetics, and her Statue of Liberty look that she wore during her performance at the Gov Ball this year. It’s no wonder that she is, as Chappell Roan herself would say, our favorite artist’s favorite artist!
