Nowadays, stealing and breaking into cars is popularized by young teens and social media platforms. The idea of stealing cars and breaking into them came from a group of people called the “Kia Boys.” They break into the easiest cars and either take parts or the entire car. Ford, Honda Civic, Chevrolet, Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry are the top 5 targeted cars for the group. The “Kia Boys” demonstrate how easy it is to break into cars, which encourages more people to break into cars for fun.
As of 2024, there have been many sightings of people, mainly young adults and teenagers, breaking into cars and getting caught on security cams. It feels unlikely that whenever there is a sighting of cars being broken into the person breaking into the car does not get caught. However, whether the sighting is posted on social media or sighted in real time, nobody ever comes out in time to say anything, encouraging other people to continue to break into cars because the chances of being caught are low.
Usually, when cars are broken into and stolen, the thief sells the parts or uses the car parts in sideshows, in which they take those parts and put them on their own car so they have a boasted up version of their car.
The internet is trying to bring more awareness and concern to the issue of car theft, and are encouraging people to speak up if they witness someone breaking into a car.
Now more than ever it’s important to follow the common sense rules to protect your car: keep your doors locked, park a car somewhere safe and reliable, and, perhaps, add a tracking device or camera in your car.
