College Station, Texas, had a special game on their hands. What a night it was for the Aggies. For the first two halves of the game, it was all LSU’s game. They were up 17-7 entering the second half.
However, once Texas A&M got out of that locker room for the second half, there was something different about them. Defensive Back BJ Mayes secured two interceptions, and Texas A&M Replaced starting quarterback with backup Marcel Reed, and it paid off completely.
The first half of the game was filled with a lot of mistakes, but it’s not how you start a game but how you finish it. When Texas A&M head coach Mike Elmo took quarterback Connor Weigman from the game, he only completed 6-18 on passes for 64 yards. However, when freshman Marcel Reed came into the game, he finished 2-2 on passes for 70 yards. On the ground he was amazing.
He accumulated 62 rushing yards for three rushing touchdowns, and the Aggies ran for 242 rushing yards throughout the game. It was a dominant run game for them. When Texas A&M played Reed, it activated an instant spark for the team. He went 3-0 when he was starting because Connor Weigman was out due to injury.
LSU wasn’t doing bad on defense; they mixed up a lot of coverage, which held the Aggies on the fourth down for quite a bit. Both of Texas A&M’s running backs had good games. Leadback Amari Daniels had 91 yards with 12 carries, and Le’Veon Moss had 83 yards with 14 carries.
Approximately 108,852 fans witnessed the remarkable comeback during the game, marking the third highest attendance in Kyle Field’s history.
LSU did well in the 1st half. They started off well in their second drive to make a 3-0 lead for them. After a personal foul from the Aggies, which added 15 yards on their drive, they then took in a 2-yard rushing touchdown to make it 10-0.
Texas A&M answered back with a nine-play 75-yard drive, which helped Le’Veon Moss run it into the end zone to make it 10-7. LSU missed too many field goals‒which hurt them‒but they would score a 76-yard touchdown when Nussmeier passed it to Aaron Anderson to up the score to 17-7.
The second half would belong to Texas A&M, who outscored them 24-6. Texas A&M would then go on to win the game with the score being 38-23. They also moved up in the rankings; they are now ranked number 10 in the country and 1st in the SEC.
