  1. Candy canes

Candy canes are the most popular candy bought during the Christmas season, due to the fact they are a big part of the holidays and are sold everywhere. They are a classic. Many people receive candy canes in stockings and during Christmas events, and they are passed out to people. This tradition originated around 176 years ago in Germany when a choirmaster was looking for a way to keep children calm during Christmas Eve services. The candy’s crook represents shepherds, and the red and white stripes represent the purity of Christ. You can never go wrong with classic peppermint candy canes. You can enjoy them in many different ways with other treats like hot cocoa, peppermint bark, or just eat the candy cane alone!

2. M&M’S

M&M’s are another very popular candy during the holidays. The original M&M’s come in their original packaging and rainbow colors, but during the Christmas season, they release special M&M’s that come in red and green, which are perfect for the holidays. They also come in packages shaped like candy canes, making them easy to put in stockings or larger containers decorated for Christmas. The company also puts out many commercials for M&M’s during the holidays that show their mascots dressed in Santa hats, leaving the special M&M’s out for Santa. There are many ways to enjoy these M&M’s, like putting them in other treats like cookies, brownies, rice krispies, or on pretzels. The M&M company also releases different types of M&M’s for other holidays like Valentine’s day and the 4th of July. They are a classic candy you can never go wrong with and are small enough to have as many handfuls as you please!

     3. Chocolate Santas

The chocolate Santas are classic treats sold in almost every store during the holidays. The candy can either be hollow or solid chocolate in the shape of Santa Clause that kids love receiving in their stockings every year. They originated in Germany on a special day on December 6th known as Nikolaustag, or St. Nicholas’ Day. The traditional gift was believed to have been a toy, as well as the chocolate that everyone loves. Around 30 million chocolate Santas are sold in winter in Germany alone. In the early 1930’s, new chocolate figures were created during winter, such as Santa and his elves, made especially for children. The tradition is similar to the classic chocolate Easter Bunny that children receive in their Easter baskets. These tasty treats that you can look forward to for the holidays!
