Spotify has recently come out with this year’s Wrapped on December 4, 2024. Some Spotify listeners were very happy with their personal Wrapped and saw it as a true reflection of their music taste this year. Others have said that they think their Spotify Wrapped is not an accurate representation.
What is Spotify Wrapped? Spotify Wrapped is a feature on Spotify that collects your listening data over the year, and gives you a personalized summary towards the end of each year. This includes the music genres you like to listen to, your top 5 artists, top songs, top podcasts, minutes listened this year, minutes listened to your top artist this year, amount of times you played your top song, and more. The feature even includes a video message from your top artist to all of their top listeners this year. When the Spotify Wrapped comes out, you also get other features on Spotify, like personal playlists (recommended and created for you based on what you listened to this year) and a personal DJ. The DJ plays different types of music specifically for you based on your listening history, the day of the week, time of day, your current mood, or whatever you would like.
The Spotify Wrapped stats this year were also released on December 4, 2024. The top global artist this year on Spotify was Tyalor Swift. This is Taylor Swift’s second year as the top global artist and it is a very big accomplishment for her. The top 5 artists were Taylor Swift at number 1, Drake at number 2, Zach Bryan at number 3, Morgan Wallen coming in 4th, and Kanye West at 5th top artist. The top song of the year in 2024 was “Espresso” by none other than Sabrina Carpenter. The next top songs this year were “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar at number 2, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey coming in 3rd, “I Had Some Help (Featuring Morgan Wallen)” by Post Malone in the 4th spot, and coming in 5th was “Million Dollar Baby” by Tommy Richman. The top albums this year were no surprise at all. Number 1 was The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology by Taylor Swift, One Thing at a Time by Morgan Wallen in 2nd, Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter at 3rd, Stick Season by Noah Khan coming in 4th, and last but not least, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan.
There were also a top 5 for podcasts. This consisted of The Joe Rogan Experience in number 1, Call Her Daddy at 2nd place, This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von coming in 3rd, Crime Junkie in 4th place, and The Daily at the fifth spot in top global Spotify podcasts. It’s so fun to see what artists, albums, and podcasters have been up on the rise this year. I can’t wait until next year to see what changes and what new and upcoming artists rise to fame.
