Thanksgiving is a great holiday to gather with friends and family to celebrate and give thanks to each other. Every family may have different traditions. However, one of the things that connects us all are the staple dishes. Here are some of the best staple meals of this holiday.
- Turkey
The center of a lot of people’s Thanksgiving meals is turkey. Turkeys are even known as the symbol of Thanksgiving. There are so many different ways to cook and season a turkey, but no matter how it’s seasoned and cooked, it’s the center of a Thanksgiving meal.
- Stuffing
Stuffing is a classic dish that goes perfectly with turkey. It’s made up usually of bread, herbs, onions, celery, and cranberries. Some people also put it inside the turkey for extra flavor. Stuffing also pairs very well with the rest of the main dishes you would typically eat at a Thanksgiving dinner, making it vital for any Thanksgiving celebration.
- Mashed potatoes
Mash potatoes are a great side dish. When you make them , they usually are made up of potatoes, butter, milk, and seasoning. Mash potatoes are usually paired with gravy. The gravy being paired with mashed potatoes is made with the juices leftover from the meat you cook, most of the time it is turkey. It is a much loved dish by the American population.
- Pumpkin pie
Thanksgiving dinner can’t be complete without a dessert. An American favorite for Thanksgiving is Pumpkin Pie. Matching the theme of fall foods pumpkin pie brings a sweet treat to the meal. A pumpkin pie is made up of pie dough and pumpkin puree. It has spices to add flavor and sweetness to it. Pumpkin pie is the perfect dessert to complete a Thanksgiving dinner.
