UFC took place on December 7,and it was a night jam packed full of action. In the co-main event, two undefeated prospects in the welterweight division, Shavkat Rakhmonav (18-0) took on Ian Machado Garry (15-0). This fight was full of technical striking and grappling to really show who is the best contender in the welterweight division. This fight resulted in a unanimous decision with Shavkat as the winner.
The main event with the current champion Alexandre Pantoja, who is on a 7 fight winning streak, took on Kai Asakura, a champion from a different organization and making his UFC debut. This fight had a lot of questions surrounding the bout like “Why give Asakara a title shot in his debut?” The first round showed why Pantoja is the champ. Asakura landed a few good shots here and there, but for the most part he looked lost. In the second, the bright lights got to Asakura and ended up losing.
It was overall a decent Pay Per View to close out the year, but the main and co-main event didn’t really deliver the fights before stealing the show; there were more exciting moments on the undercard and the prelims. Overall I give this event a 7.5/10
