World Cup Qualifiers: Brazil vs. Colombia Prediction

By Yaseen Jangikan

Brazil hasn’t been in its best form throughout the recent years, but we could see them bounce back with a win against Colombia. These two sides go at it when they play each other, so if you are looking for a high-level South American game this is the one to watch.

The Brazilian National team has been inconsistent in their last couple of games. Even though they have players like Vinicius Jr., Raphinha, and Rodrygo, they haven’t had the best of success. During games, they struggle to keep full control till the end of the game.

Brazil has drawn their last two games, and they need a win to keep them from losing their 5th spot in the standings. Brazil has a fast-paced offense that likes to utilize the wings and win as many one-on-ones as possible. Colombia’s defense is tough; their backline is tough to go through, which poses a challenge for Brazil.

Colombia has improved tremendously; they beat Argentina, and they made it to the final of the 2024 Copa America unbeaten until Argentina beat them 1-0 in the final. They have had losses, though, particularly to Ecuador and Uruguay. Luis Diaz is their best dribbler on the team, but he is unpredictable. James Rodriguez is still their main man after all of these years. He is the best scoring opportunity Colombia has besides Luis Diaz, of course.

During this next game, I predict Colombia will look to impose heavily on the defense and control it. When they are given the opportunity, they will surely look to go on the counter attack.

Brazil will end up trying to dictate the game in the midfield with Bruno Guimares while trying to be fast-paced on the wings with Vini Jr. and Raphina.

I expect this game to be a tight game. However, I do see Brazil getting back on track and winning 2-1 to increase their rank in the standing table, qualifying them for the 2026 World Cup.
