What a devastating week it was for Liverpool, having been knocked out of the Champions League and losing the Carabao Cup in only one week. The treble dreams for Liverpool are officially over. However, we can say the premier league has officially been won by Liverpool!
In the second leg at the Anfield, Liverpool was surprisingly up 1-0 after they got dominated in the first leg. During the second leg, Mohamed Saleh just couldn’t do anything; he was getting locked up all day by Nunu Mendes. Then, it came in the 12th minute from a cross-in from Bradley Barcola: Ousmane Dembele had scored.
The game was now tied 1-1. Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score. However, the whistle blew in the 120th minute, and the game went to penalties. Liverpool missed three crucial penalties, and PSG made four penalties. PSG ended up winning 4-1 on penalties, and Liverpool was knocked out of the Champions League.
During the game against Newcastle, Liverpool was dominated in the 45th minute when Dan Burn scored. 7 minutes after the second half started, Alexander Isak put away a beautiful one-touch goal off a header from Murphy, which headed in his direction. Federico Chiesa ended up scoring for Liverpool in the 94th minute, but it was too late.
Liverpool lost 2-1 in the Carabao Cup. Just like that, Liverpool lost both the Champions League and the Carabao Cup in one week. The only opportunity they had to win was the Premier League. Then, BOOM! They secured the trophy.
