Warriors vs. Nuggets: Warriors Winning Streak is Over

By Yaseen Jangikhan

On March 17, 2025, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Denver Nuggets, a team that did not have Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Christian Braun. Steve Kerr was undeniably disgusted with how the Warriors played last night. The Nuggets ended the Warriors promising win streak with a score of 114-105.

In the Western Conference, the Warriors are tied with the Timberwolves in the standings. However, the Timberwolves seem to be behind because of the tie-breaker because of the loss to the Indiana Pacers in overtime. It hurt their seeding ranks a lot. The Warriors had the chance to potentially get as high as the 3rd seed if they won last night, but now it’s not going to happen.

If they had gotten the win, it would have helped the Warriors potentially win the tie-breaker against the Nuggets on their April 4th matchup. The Warriors now play against the Milwaukee Bucks, who have Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, who are playing well. This is a back-to-back matchup, so they’re playing two days in a row.

It has been over 1000 days since the Warriors beat the Nuggets. This was potentially their best chance to take them down as their starters were on the bench. The main reason for this loss against the Nuggets was the turnovers.

The Warriors turned the ball over 20 times, and this ended up giving the Nuggets 24 points, which were scored off of these turnovers. On top of that, the Warriors were horrible from the three-point line, going 8/33. That is a 24 percent success rate from the Three-Point line. Another factor that contributed to the loss was free throws. They went 12/27 from the Free-Throw line.

With over 2 minutes left in the game, the Warriors closed the gap to a six-point lead for the Nuggets. Draymond Green had taken a pass, which was intended for Aaron Gordon, and then he passed it to Curry, who thought Kuminga would be going to the basket, so it was a bizarre turnover for the Warriors.

Curry wasn’t really feeling well for the game, so they could sit him  when against the Bucks. However, this is a crucial game they need to win to stay out of the Play-In tournament. The Warriors need to win tonight to get back on track.
