Recently, there have been rumors getting spread around that Chipotle may be closing this year. Many people seem to believe that the restaurant chain might be closing due to them filing for bankruptcy. This has come as a shock to many people, including myself. A lot of people have been buying Chipotle for years, although it has gotten very pricey over time.
A lot of the rumors about Chipotle have come from social media. The original post that claimed Chipotle was closing down was from a site called Union Rayo in Madrid. It claimed that a spinoff concept of Chipotle that they backed called Farmesa Fresh was being shut down. Many speculated that Chipotle may also be shutting down because of a lack of business in certain areas.
There is no evidence that Chipotle is shutting down, but people all over social media say otherwise. What could have led to this happening in the first place? A lot of people frequently go to Chipotle, and unfortunately I am a victim of that too. A burrito bowl with carnitas is unbeatable; everything else on the menu doesn’t come close.
Chipotle has seemed to be very successful in recent years, so this shocking news doesn’t seem to add up. After doing some more research about it, many sources say that only Farmesa Fresh is closing and not Chipotle. The Chipotle team has confirmed that it is only a rumor and that they have plans to expand.
This news is very relieving, as many were upset that Chipotle might have been shut down. They have made customers very happy, besides their portions. They give their customers little portions of food, even though the prices keep rising. They need to fix that and give everyone the most of each item they want. But, nonetheless, Chipotle is not closing and is only going to get bigger. They stated that they want to open between 315-345 new Chipotle locations, with some including a drive-thru. A drive-thru for a restaurant like Chipotle will be revolutionary, and I must say I am excited.
I am in full support of this expansion and can’t wait to get Chipotle again after finding out it isn’t going anywhere. Although Chipotle isn’t really authentic Mexican food, it will still hit every single time. I am beyond ecstatic that these rumors were confirmed to only be rumors and most likely not true.
