Bong Joon Ho is a Korean filmmaker and director known around the world for his work, especially his movie Parasite. His movie Mickey 17 based off of the book Mickey 7. The movie stars Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette.
Ruffalo and Collette depict a power hungry dictator couple who are trying to take over other planets and their inhabitants. The main character Mickey, who is played by Robert Pattinson, is used to represent the treatment of citizens and the working class in society.
Although Joon Ho states that no specific leader is represented, there are heavy parallels between the character of Kenneth Marshall and people involved in American politics today, like Trump and Elon Musk in terms of their personalities and political choices.
Kenneth Marshall in this movie is space obsessed and won’t stop until he gets what he wants. This seems to be similar to Tesla owner Elon musk who’s pushed his way into American politics and also is passionate about space and technology.
Some people even say that the film depicted moments from recent Trump rallies, such as the moment Trump was shot by having Marshall shot at. His followers also wear red hats similar to Trump supporters.
Joon Ho is known for his political ideology and anti-capitalistic themes that are consistent throughout his movies. Overall, this movie incorporated many different genres, such as satire, romance, and drama all in one and did a great job at it.
