Summer Vacation is just around the corner, and what better way to spend this well-needed break than to sit back and relax with a movie? This summer will be packed with major blockbuster movies that give a variety of different types of films for anyone to enjoy. With that, here is a list of the most anticipated movies for this summer:
- Superman – July 11th, 2025
Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman is a new take on the famous superhero and explores more of the roots of what makes Superman, Superman. Going back to the more vibrant, youthful, and joyous Superman instead of the last Superman (played by Henry Cavil) which was more dark and griddier. This will also be the start of a whole brand new cinematic universe for DC, hoping to make more of a connected universe, as well as better films and shows overall. This film is really anticipated by many fans and the general public alike for the possibility that we are getting a more colorful and happy go lucky Superman that corresponds to what many grew up with in comics or old shows. Let’s hope that Superman lives up to the hype and can be a great big start to a hopefully great big universe.
- The Fantastic 4: First Steps – July 25th, 2025
Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic 4: First Steps is the third reboot of the beloved superhero family, The Fantastic 4. The film follows Marvel’s first family, played by Pedro Pascal, Vannessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-bachrach, in a completely different universe from the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), with the 4 of them being the only superheroes in their world. The story follows the characters going to space as astronauts, getting superpowers, and coming back not only as superheroes but celebrities. The film will show what it’s like tackling personal celebrity life, creating and trying to hold a family together, while also trying to save the world. Fans are really anticipating this film for bringing back some of Marvel’s best characters and great effects, and they hope that it will be a fresh new take in a whole other world.
- Jurassic World: Rebirth – July 2nd, 2025
Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World: Rebirth follows the story of Zora Bennett, played by Scarlett Johansson, who leads a team of skilled operatives to the most dangerous place on Earth: an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park. Their mission is to secure genetic material from dinosaurs whose DNA can provide life-saving benefits to mankind. As the top-secret expedition becomes more and more risky, they soon make a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.
This film is the 7th installment to the original Jurassic Park film trilogy, with the studio behind the movie hoping to reinvent the franchise. Fans are anticipating this film just to see the new types of dinosaurs that inhabit the island and how they bring some scenes from the original book to life in movie form.
- F1 – June 27th, 2025
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 takes place in the 1990s. Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, was Formula 1’s most promising driver until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces Sonny to return to racing and become the best in the world. Driving alongside the team’s hotshot rookie, played by Damson Idris, Sonny soon learns that the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
Fans of F1 racing and the general public are very excited for this film’s release because of its stellar cinematography, which is based off of 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick (also directed by Kosinski), and its epic music by the legendary composer, Hans Zimmer.
- How To Train Your Dragon (Live Action) – June 13, 2025
Directed by Dean DeBlois, How To Train Your Dragon follows the beloved story of a Viking boy named Hiccup, played by Mason Thames, who defies centuries of tradition by befriending a dragon named Toothless. However, when an ancient threat emerges that endangers both species, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.
The film is a live action reboot of the cult classic animated film of the same name. Though recent live action adaptations of beloved animated classics have gotten a ton of backlash, this adaptation is getting a lot of praise for keeping the same epic scale and creativity of the original classic. It has tons of beautiful imagery that reflect a lot of the iconic moments from the original movie, while also adding new aspects that further enhance the story. Fans are really anticipating this film to see their childhood film come to life in a new way.
