     The 2000’s was a year full of iconic and unique trends when it came to fashion. Everyone had their own style and no one was afraid to dress overtop regardless of  backlash. It was a time where dressing up with cool accessories and extremely voluminous hair was the norm, and simple was considered weird. While much of the fashion back then was very iconic and bold, this means there were also some bizarre trends that many people regret. The 2000’s was filled with colorful and even grunge looks. Many teenagers today are slowly bringing back the 2000’s type of look with streetwear, halter tops, and the most iconic 2000’s staple: low rise jeans. This article will list the top 3 most popular but also bizarre fashion trends of the decade.

1. Dresses over jeans

     Wearing dresses with bootcut jeans was super popular on red carpets, as well as everyday outfits. This outfit was heavily influenced by celebrities like Hilary Duff and Jessica Alba. Although this trend made no logical sense, it became normal and inspired young girls at this time to follow this bizarre trend. Pairing a flowy mini dress with baggy jeans was one of the many iconic fashion staples in the 2000’s. Despite it being bizarre to the older generation, young people thought this look was cool and it became a popular.

2. Ultra low rise jeans

     Super low rise jeans are probably the most iconic trend of the 2000’s. These types of jeans were all you could find in stores. These jeans were like fashion staples to celebrities like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, influencing the world for its simple but chic look. Low rise jeans were paired with nearly everything, but typically half shirts with eye-catching accessories and unique belts. They were a very controversial but famous trend from the 2000’s. You never see iconic 2000’s shows and movies without the iconic low rise jeans that barely over someone’s hip bone. Although this trend was bizarre to some, it is becoming popular again today.

3. Long Belts

     Wearing belts with extra fabric that hung all the way to one’s knees was another iconic trend from the 2000’s. This look was a more edgy style, inspiring young people and Avril Lavigne fans. Many skaters and alternative rock fans loved this look. Even though it was impractical and a tripping hazard, it was worn for the look and aesthetic.
