This local gem in Vallejo, California, Szechuan Chinese Cuisine, has been a go to restaurant to visit for me and many alike. They offer many different types of dishes, which we will be reviewing today. We only got a small percentage of what they have to offer, but that is what we will talk about. We were lucky enough to try the shrimp fried rice and chow mein, seafood soup, and pot stickers.
We started off with the seafood soup and the pot stickers. The seafood soup consisted of a nice warm broth with shrimp, crab, green onion, scallops, tofu, and egg whites. It was a surprising favorite. The warm taste of the shrimp was the main flavor and was really good. This was the perfect dish, especially with the colder weather we have been experiencing recently.
After this, we tried the shrimp chow mein. The shrimp chow mein was very flavorful and consisted of noodles, shrimp, cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, and a soy-based sauce. The shrimp was very juicy and tender, and we were given a generous portion of it. The sweetness of the shrimp had balanced really well with the sauce. This dish was amazing, and I would gladly recommend it.
Next was the shrimp fried rice. The grains of rice were a nice, golden looking color and were perfectly separated from each other. With the rice, there were eggs, green onion, and a good amount of shrimp, similar to the last dish. Unlike some versions of fried rice that are bland or too oily, this was really flavorful and was very well seasoned. This is a dish that I will definitely be getting frequently.
Besides the food, the customer service was really great. The food came out in a very timely manner, and the workers were very kind and friendly. No one had any issues with the food they asked for, and we could tell that all of the staff were genuinely proud of the food that they serve. The atmosphere of the restaurant was natural lighting from a few windows, and a lot of dim lighting. The tables inside were somewhat compact because of how busy they were.
Overall, the food was amazing and the service was great. Szechuan Chinese Cuisine is a place that is known for their generous portions, ingredients, and incredible service. On top of all that, it is very affordable. No matter what you like, whether it’s seafood, noodles, etc, you will definitely enjoy this restaurant. We rate it 4.5/5 stars, and we will come back to this restaurant many times in the future.
