What to Eat on First Street?

11 Foods to Eat to Help You Lose Weight

By Julien Garcia and Jacob Oliveria

First Street is the heart and center of Benicia; it’s where the town hosts its events, parades, and community gatherings. First Street is lined from building to building with local businesses, a park, a pier, and most of all restaurants.

First Street is vibrant and sociable at almost any hour of the day. It can be the place you meet up with friends, family, or maybe even new people. One of the most sociable things you can do is eat and talk, and what better place to do that than a restaurant? Everybody has to eat to live, so if you’re ever around First Street, there are quite a few good spots to pick up a bite. From Latin-American food, Indian food, or Classic American cuisine, there’s a place to eat for you.

Many of these places are easily accessible because they’re located in one of the busiest areas of Benicia. On top of this, they’re better priced than most “fancy” or “high-end” businesses while being far higher quality than your average fast food restaurant.

When asked what she likes to eat on First Street, Mackenzie Rice, 12, stated, “I like the Spider-Roll at Kaigan Sushi…the price and overall taste is pretty good.” Kaigan Sushi is a nice, quaint little sushi spot that serves great sushi rolls. They also sell other foods, such as sashimi and katsu.

If you’re into some good old American Cuisine the “Cheeseburger and Fries are a great pick at Chars,” states Isaiah St. Louis, 12, claims.

Some of the most popular recommendations gathered from other Benicia High School students included Sandoval’s, Pacifica Pizza, Char’s, Sailor Jack’s, and Nations. Many of these places are owned and operated by locals of Benicia. So, you’re not only getting a good meal but also showing support for the local community. Continuing the support of our community will allow businesses to thrive and have a more lively town!
