In one of the best eras of music there are a lot of artists that are breaching millions of monthly listeners on Spotify and other streaming platforms. People are loving music, but when there’s love, there’s also hate. But is there an artist that everyone agrees is the best?
When you think of a music legend, you might think of Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kanye West, Elvis Presley. But I’ve looked at multiple sources like wikipedia and I noticed the greatest artists are the ones that change or revolutionize their genre which they will get into in a second. So I have whittled it down to 3 artists that are considered the best, and at the end of this article, I will finalize the single best artist to ever exist.
Obviously everyone has their own opinion, so the best artist will be based off of the majority vote and overall influence for their time.
The Beatles were an English rock band that was founded in 1960, and was known for not having a specific genre, and their influence over their era like any other artist. People loved them for their lyrics and melodies, but what separated the Beatles from other bands at the time was their use of influences from many different prior artists. By the help of John Lennon’s influence already there, insane fan frenzy and the cultural influence, if you ask anyone in the 21st century they at least know one beatles song
Michael Jackson is an obvious pick for one of the greatest artists of all time. His influence over people was insane and he changed pop music forever. He truly revolutionized his genre. Michael Jackson started music at the age of 5 as a part of the Jackson 5, and continued his career through his entire life. Though causing complications in his life, he kept singing because that’s all he ever knew. A normal life was not for Michael Jackson. He performed at Super Bowls and at sold out shows, he changed pop music completely. He is known as the king of pop for a reason.
Elvis Presley was born in Mississippi in 1935 and moved to Tennessee where he lived for the most of his childhood. Elvis got his musical influences from church music, pop music at the time, the blues, and R&B. When Elvis was in his prime, he changed music completely breaking racial barriers. He made dancing on stage a normal thing, and with his cult-like fan base, he was a global legend. He made 33 films and they were all successful.
So what is the greatest music artist of all time? Of course it’s all opinion based and time period based, but one artist stands out from the others and it’s Elvis Presley.
There would be no rock and roll if there was no Elvis. Music would be completely different if Elvis didn’t break the barriers he did. He took the racial barrier out of music and he blended genres of music and at the same time made them all sound good. Though Michael Jackson and The Beatles were amazing, without Elvis, there would be none of them. He was the father of new music, thus making him the greatest artist.
