Benicia’s Porchfest occurred on Saturday, September 13 this year on First Street. Porchfest is a yearly local music festival across towns like San Rafael, Napa, San Francisco, Benicia, and so on.
Mr. Greenwood: a teacher at BHS, attended Napa’s porchfest for 8 years, even played music for some of them. “I enjoy porchfest because of the community, playing music with my friends, making new friends. The city of Napa would close off my street, and it was pretty much a block party. It was fun to play my music in front of my neighbors, to let loose and show them another side of me,” said Greenwood,
Local bands played at Benicia’s porchfest including Lady Bianca: a blues musician, Carly Thomas: a folk musician, and Jewels Hanson & Company: a country artist. However, many other artists participated in this event.
This year, porchfest had a total of 31 bands play with 21 spaces being used in Benicia. Most of the music artists at porchfest play acoustic music such as folk, americana, and country. However, any genre of music is welcome to participate.
