The Raiders are argued to be the worst Football team out there. And yet they still have a following, including myself. But why be a Raiders fan when they are hated by the majority? They rarely win anyway, so what’s the point?
During the preseason, the Raiders lost to both the Cardinals and the 49ers, which is not completely heartbreaking because Preseason games don’t count on the official records for the playoff standings
However, the Raiders started the season off with a win, the Raiders won against the Patriots 20-13. But their wins are short lived, beaten back down with another loss to the Chargers, 9-20.
But those losses are part of being a Raiders fan. Many of their fans are loyal to the core.
One of their most devoted fans is your everyday contractor, Ron Bruno who is, “Silver and black to the bone, to the core of who I am,” Ron said. He has been going to Raider games since the 70’s.
People hold onto hope for their teams, “I think being a Raider fan is like being a Clevlin fan, you’re holding onto great days in the 60s and 70s but I think you need to be an eternal optimist,” Ron said, has this idea of constantly being optimistic is the fun of being a Raider fan.
Every team has their good and bad seasons, some definitely more than others, but that is half of what sports is. The thrill of a chance to win and the sadness of losing.
