How Climate Change Disrupts The Seasons

By Gia Jarmin

In these past few years, climate change has increased drastically. Climate change has caused our summers to be longer, and our winters to be shorter and warmer. Our summers are starting earlier and lasting way longer than they are supposed to.

The temperatures are above average and lasting longer when transitioning into fall, this is why the beginning of fall is still so hot. Winters are becoming way shorter and warmer than usual because the climate change is causing less snow fall. The temperatures in winter have increased at a higher rate than average maximum temperatures.

Not only is climate change disrupting seasons but it also causes droughts, floods, weather patterns, rising temperatures, sea-level rise, and heatwaves.

This also has an impact on human health. Our water supplies, food systems, and ecosystems are all affected. Marilyn Hudson states “I think climate change is a big issue. I don’t have a strong opinion on it, but I do think the world is always changing, and it’s hard to predict exactly what the world will look like in the next couple years.”

Climate change is a big issue and we need to do whatever it takes to fix it. Some ways we can aid in fixing it is by reducing our use of greenhouse gas, adopting sustainable agriculture and forestry, improving energy efficiency in homes and transportation, and implementing carbon removal technologies.
